No matter how low you think you can go, there is a place even lower called “the dip”.

Poor Dalton…his life is rooted in misery right now 🙁
Like anyone taking a journey, he has his ups and downs. But I’m sure he will bounce back.
Hang in there Dalton, that red-blood cell count comes back!
I really like the change in color of the last panel.
Thanks Julian, I appreciate you taking time to leave a comment. That last panel is one of the few times where no words were needed. He’s just one pooped out plant.
Looks like poor Dalton needs a shot of Miracle Grow. He seems to have been in the Roundup.
Thanks Bo, he is definitely under the weeds at the moment. I suspect he couldn’t get out of bed, that is if he had the energy to even get into the bed to begin with.
Into each life some rain must fall…
I’m really feeling for Dalton, J. P., nice work!
Thanks Mark, I think one of the most gratifying things for a cartoonist is to have a character to move from the realm of just being art on paper to actually producing an emotional reaction from the reader. Laughter is easy, but sadness and pain is more difficult. This strip pushes the absolute boundary for me, it was appropriate but I don’t want the story to push past this level of serious reality.
For the first time…I feel for a plant.
I reach for broccoli, does that constitute feeling for a plant?
