Bad breath may be one of his good points!
Agile tells me that he thinks that the Duke is going to be a lot of fun in this story. Of course considering this is Agile’s first time writing and drawing a comic adventure, and the fact that he’s a bug, makes me a bit cautious about his opinions. I am noticing that he seems to like doing characters with bulbous bald heads which I suspect is his way of poking fun at me.
The squinty eyes and the handle-bar moustache might be a bit too much for her. I keep expecting to hear, “If you don’t give me the deed to your Ranch, I’m gone tie you to the railroad track.”
Actually Agile is doing a fantastic job.
Agile tells me that the Duke is patterned after Ming The Merciless from Flash Gordon. I tend to agree that Ming was the model for many great Sci-Fi villains in the movies. Darth Vader was a wimp compared to Ming, the self proclaimed emperor of the universe.
When I was 10 or 11 years old, I use to sit in front of the TV every afternoon and watch an episode of the 1930’s era Flash Gordon serial. They don’t come any meaner than Charles Middleton’s portrayal of Ming. He reeked of nasty with his Fu Manchu style facial hair and the way he lusted after Dale Arden.
In space, no one can smell your breath.
That tip ranks up there with using peanut butter to get gum out of your hair. So we all will go suffocate in the vacuum of space but at least we won’t care who cuts the cheese or eats onions.
