Everyone is out to make a buck except poor Monroe. He just wants to cool off. But I seriously doubt that things are trending in that direction. In fact, I’m sure that things are not going to cool off around here any time soon. September is always a hot month in Tuberville.

I think that the characters are very well drawn, and look very clean.
Just wondering how you created the ground in this strip as it is contrasting drastically with the characters. While they have clear lines and colouring, the ground seems a bit rough.
Over all, I love the art style, and the characters have great expressions!
Well done!

Thanks for the encouragement.
The background style for the strip is an evolution in progress. I’m experimenting as I go, trying to get a look and feel that really fits. I began with very simple almost nonexistent backgrounds and then went in a significant opposite direction with more detailed “painted” backgrounds. This most recent “shrub and grass” rendering is still of the painted variety. I suspect that I’ll be moving to a more middle of the road style eventually. I’m probably going to try a few different approaches over the next month until I get a “good fit”.
Of course my primary focus is on trying to be entertaining and interesting in terms of the characters and their situations and interactions and hopefully the art style will evolve to be supportive and complementary. As the strip evolves, reader feedback will be an important directional indicator. So feel free to voice your thoughts and opinions as they are really appreciated and valued.
